DIPLOMA IN GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING

Duration  :  24 months

Educational Qualifications : Any graduate preferred/Pass in 10+2 (State/Central Board)

Course objective

Guidance and counselling, which is assuming great importance in modern life, has become an integral part of the overall human development process. Today, the role of guiding workers and counsellors has become increasingly specialised as the problems to be addressed have themselves become more complex. Child guidance and counselling is an area which needs trained people. In this direction the course has been developed.

The course is designed to train:

• Prospective Child Guidance workers and Counsellors to impart much needed services to the society at different levels (e.g., individual, family, community, organisations or institution)

• Special Teachers, Educators, Guidance workers and Counsellors who can work efficiently and successfully in the fields of social work, education, occupation and health as well as impart needed services to the NGOs.

Subjects of the course:

First Year:

• Principles of child guidance and counselling
• Learning and communication patterns in children
• Supervised practices/assignment / field work

Second Year

• Child development and adjustment in children
• Childhood related disorders
• Supervised practices/ assignment and field work.
